The Family
This used to be mummy’s and daddy’s ramblings on their new-found life with little boy. Now, it’s monopolized by mummy because daddy is too busy playing Buddy Rush and reading Teamtalk, Soccernet ;p Ok lah, be fair – he’s actually busiest managing his staff who unfortunately gets on his nerves quite a bit.
Jingheng is a Beijing-born Singaporean, born in the China capital city on 19 August 2009 and turned Singaporean only 1 month later – because of our island’s application red tape, surprise surprise.
We were in Beijing for the last 2 years, then moved to Tianjin last November where we are now.
Daddy is a public-turned-private employee, braving the steep learning curve of the real estate developer industry, having made a planned career switch.
Mummy is a research consultant-turned-housewife, braving through the steep learning curve of child-rearing and messing around with the wok, having made a career switch that turned out only half-planned.
Jingheng is a toddler totally ga-ga about fish, cars and balls. His latest fun is drawing with crayons and 笔. We know these are topmost on his mind because he mumbles “画画鱼” (drawing fish) even in his dreams.
If you are in Tianjin, drop a note to say hi!

Hi! I live in Nankai in Tianjin, and I came across your blog while looking for blogs by local expats to add to my new website (still under construction). Is it alright that I’ve added your blog to this site? http://tianjinfamilies.com If not, I’ll gladly take it down. Where do you live in Tianjin? Feel free to drop me a line at bandabacks (at) gmail.com
Hello.
I will be relocating to from singapore to tianjin this June for work. I was musing through the web researching in preparation for my move and came across your blog.
Am really glad to know there is a Singaporean community in tianjin. However, I couldn’t help but notice that your recent posts showed your family in Singapore? Are you still residing in tianjin?
I am also in the midst of looking for accommodation. Will you be able to advise on the average housing rent and utilities in tianjin, preferably in the TEDA area as that’s where I will be working.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best regards from Singapore
